Over Think Too Much?

Over thinking a situation, an experience, or in the worst case scenario, over thinking a thought can drive you freaking crazy.

I know that’s how I feel.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Lets look at some alternatives in order to clear our minds and make ourselves feel better.

#1. If you cant shut up your mind, flood it with positive and happy thoughts.

The power of positive self talk and positive affirmations is severely under rated. In fact, who even talks about this stuff.

It’s like people are afraid to admit their insecurities.

I tell people all the time that my inner dialogue pretty much consists of me praising myself over and over again (in a humble way of course).

If you research any successful person, and I mean any, you will find they do the same. They tell themselves “I love myself” and “I accept myself as I am”.

So if you find yourself getting lost in your thoughts and you cant stop over thinking try replacing them with positive affirmations.

Over time your brain will replace your negative thought patterns with positive ones. You can do this! Here are some examples to try:

I AM HAPPY!

I LOVE MYSELF!

I ACCEPT MYSELF AS I AM!

I GROW A LITTLE BIT EVERYDAY. THAT’S ALL ANYONE CAN EVER DO!

I AM A HUMBLE PERSON AND I LOVE HELPING OTHER PEOPLE.

I AM CONFIDENT!

I AM IN CONTROL OF MY LIFE!

These are just a few that work for me. Pick anything you want. Anything that makes you happy and confident go with. No matter what it is.

As long as its positive you’re good to go. Go ahead and try this now if you’re not already smiling. You’ll be feeling better in no time.

#2. Praise yourself that you even recognize you’re over thinking.

One of the first steps in transforming your thoughts is to recognize you are doing so. Just by recognizing that your mind was running and then having the ability to stop and say “Hey, I was just lost in that thought for 5 mins” is a major accomplishment.

So the next time this happens praise yourself and say ” I just caught myself overthinking. Great job self! I’m on my way to learning how to control my thoughts!”

#3. Be present in this very moment.

The present moment we experience is all we ever have. Forget the past and quit worrying and about the future. IT’S NOT REAL!

Being present is the key to every single persons happiness. When you are present and you understand what you are doing on a conscious level your mind can’t seperate itself from yourself. You are now one entity. You are now one being.

No more doing one thing and thinking about another. All that does is rob your happiness and joy from experiencing the present moment you are in.

Lets try this experiment: The next few sentences you read I want you to read them as slowly as you possibly can. I want you to look at each and every letter as it is laid out on the screen. Even take the time to recognize the spaces between the words. Here we go:

I AM IN CONTROL OF MY LIFE!

THE THOUGHTS THAT COME AND GO INTO MY MIND CONSISTENTLY REMIND MYSELF OF HOW GREAT I AM!

I AM PRESENT!

If you did that correctly then your mind and your body should have been flowing in complete unison and you were completely present in the moment.

If it did not work and your mind was still a little off focus then go back and try again. After all, if you want to be great at anything in life you have to practice.

Over thinking can be a real bitch sometimes. Don’t let your negative mind win this battle. Turn your over thinking into present moment positive affirmations.

You got this!
